We all need a friend with benefits or three ...

Let's face it we all need some friends with benefits whether you're single or not. I know what you're thinking but relax; this is all about fitness. Throughout my weight loss journey, a large part of my motivation has been the support that I have received from friends, family, and my social media family. On the days where I feel like skipping the gym, I always think about the crowd waiting to cheer me on. Without ever soliciting their support, when I get comments such as “ you're my inspiration,” or I got out of bed because of you, it makes me work harder and remain consistent. Not only are these people, my friends, but they're my friends with benefits.

Have you ever seen movies or athletic commercials where someone may be nervous on the field but look up and see their loved one, then all of a sudden they are filled with courage? That isn't just on TV, that feeling is real and very awesome. Over the years, I sought out accountability partners, maybe someone who was also on the same journey, but it never worked out. This time my cheer section found me, and although they may not be on the same mission as me, they keep more accountable than any partner or trainer ever has.

I challenge you to find your tribe and make some friends with benefits in whatever challenge you may be facing, whether it is starting a business or losing weight. I found mine by merely posting my workout and daily check-ins on Instagram, and they eventually found me. So maybe you're not into social media, how about a group text with some of your most positive and encouraging friends. Again, you all don't have to be on the same mission but instead, share the same positive energy. Enjoy your friends with benefits.

This seems small, but it just may be the thing that makes the difference in your journey.

Thanks for checking out this installment of “Did you do your 100?”

Remember to always do a 100 of something every day. You would surprise how much 100 sit-ups, 100 jumping jacks or 100 squats can make a difference over time.

As always, Stay Beat and Blessed

  1. I love this!!!! When I was in undergrad and working at FedEx, no one outside of school really understood the struggle, but each and every customer on my routes from Culver City to Torrance cheered me along and encouraged me which resulted in my graduation. Your support doesn't always have to come from participants. The best support comes from the sidelines filled with people cheering you on to success! Bless up....
